Information Architecture Task

Here are the notes I had taken on the task to outline the AI of the site I was mocking up during my time working on the course in Futurelearn.

Business goals:

• Collect data on, produce and present information about Copyright usability status on digital content.

• User goals:

  • Find and check digital content copyright usability information to prevent legal and monetary complication.

• Analyse Competitors:

  • No direct competition - look at similarly functioning services

    • IMDB good layout example for quick search of content

      • Quick overviews of content with small thumbnail preview

      • Overall information summary needs shortening in context of mockup service

  • YouTube being primary target, check categorisation structure

Define content:

• Information resource / information update service

Main features present on all pages:

• Top banner: menu bar, login/register, account, search, expandable menu

• Bottom Banner: Footer information, contact, content owners

• Landing Page: About us, large search bar, expandable search menu

  • Category, Genre, Advanced search, Filters

• Search results page: List of result items, Add new content

  • Thumbnail, Owner/Title, Safety rating level

    • What the safety level means found on hovering over rating

    • Full advice for safety level found in a separate page when clicking on rating
